We work with communities surrounding national parks and wild life destinations in Uganda to promote their health and well-being, empower them to access quality health care services, adopt healthy life styles and live in harmony with the environment. We believe that health communities are more resilient, productive and better able to cope with change. We therefore provide individuals with space, tools and resources needed to address critical health needs to promotes health equity, reduce poverty and foster sustainable development.
Pamoja Afya Initiative
"Pamoja" and "Afya" are two Swahili words which mean "Togetherness" and "Health" respectively. At Pamoja Afya Initiative we work together with local communities and partners to promote health for building stronger and resilient local communities.
Vision
An empowered, creative, and innovative community.
Mission
Being a leading organization for health promotion and service delivery in Uganda.
How We Do It
We are committed to empowering local communities with accurate information that improve and increase control over their health through implementing mental health promotion, wellness and wellbeing, sexual reproductive health rights, ICT and entrepreneurship for health interventions.
Our work also engages communities in wild life and biodiversity conservation to mitigate the effects of climate change through strengthening community systems in areas around national parks. To prevent wild animals share the same water sources with humans which in many areas lead to loss of human life, we construct water sources to allow communities have access to safe, clean and pure water which all contribute to improved quality of life among communities surrounding national parks
Why We Do It
We are motivated by Sustainable Development Goals (SGD) 3,6 and 13 that call to action to promote :-Good Health and Well-being, Clean Water and Sanitation, and Climate Action so as to reduce inequalities ,create a more equitable, innovative, resilient and sustainable future.
